Red Education and digital badging provider Credly have partnered to provide our students the opportunity to earn and share digital badges. Our new digital badge program is designed to assist our students to validate and differentiate their skills and providing tools to tell their professional story.

What Is Digital Badge
A digital badge is a visual online representation of an accomplishment, skill, interest, or other achievements.
Digital badges communicate three things:
- Who did something?
- What did they do?
- Who says they did it?
An open digital badge takes it a step further by allowing others to see and verify the actions needed to earn the badge. By providing transparency as to who issued the badge (in this case, Red Education) and what the requirements were to earn the badge, digital badges can differentiate our students.

Earning a badge – how does it work?
Step 1 EARN
Complete your participating training course.
Step 2 CLAIM
Once you’ve earned your badge, you’ll be sent a notification e-mail from our badge provider and partner, Credly. During this process, you’ll receive information about how to claim and share your badge. At this point, you can also create your own profile page on the Credly website which provides numerous additional benefits.
Step 3 SHARE
If you choose, you can “share” your badge on social media sites or place your badge directly on your digital resume or e-portfolio.
Step 4 ADVANCE
Whether it’s a new promotion, new job or graduate school, as a badge holder, you now have a variety of tools available to help you make that transition. You’ll be able to access data about the labor market demand for the skills validated by your badge.
Here’s an example of what others will see when they visit your badge page. You can also view it on the Credly page.
What are the benefits of a badge?
Representing your skills as a badge gives you a way to share your abilities online in a way that is simple, trusted and can be easily verified in real time. Badges provide employers and peers concrete evidence of what you had to do to earn your credential and what you’re now capable of. Credly also offers labor market insights, based on your skills. You can search and apply for job opportunities right through the Credly platform.
Tools to communicate your accomplishment
One of the most unique features of a Red Education digital badge is the ability to easily communicate your accomplishments. Share your badge with social media sites or incorporate them on your professional branding tools like a resume or website.
The following sharing avenues are available through our badging partner, Credly:
- Via email
- Embedded in a website
- Place the badge on an electronic resume
One-Click Verification – Metadata
Red Education digital badges contain metadata that allows anyone to understand the skills, knowledge and actions taken to earn the badge. Information includes the following items:
- Who the badge was issue by
- Who the badge was issued to
- The date of issue
- The expiration date of the badge if any
- The skills verified by the badge
- Evidence of skills or knowledge earned
- Recommendations for additional badges that can be earned

Labor market insights are pulled from live job requisitions. Based on your skills you can learn which employers are hiring, what job titles you might be qualified for, salary ranges and more. Search active job listings and even apply for them with just a few clicks through Credly. Access the labor market insights from your badge details page by clicking on Related Jobs, or by clicking on the skill tags assigned to your badge.

How will I know if I’ve earned a badge?
You will receive an email notification from Credly ([email protected]) with instructions for claiming your badge and setting up your account.
What’s to keep someone else from copying my badge and using it?
While badges are simply digital image files, they are uniquely linked to data hosted on the Credly platform. This link to verified data makes them more reliable and secure than a paper-based certificate. It also eliminates the possibility of anyone claiming your credential and your associated identity.
