Strengthening F5 Hong Kong Partner Capability with Focused APM Training

F5 Networks wanted to deepen the skills of key partners in Hong Kong who were supporting Access Policy Manager projects. Partner teams had experience with F5, however they needed more focused technical knowledge and troubleshooting capability. This case study shows how a tailored classroom program helped address those gaps and better support customer projects.

Challenges

In Hong Kong, the F5 team identified that partner technical capability around BIG-IP Access Policy Manager was not where it needed to be to support current and upcoming projects.

Partners were already familiar with F5 solutions, yet they required deeper APM skills and more confidence when working on complex deployments. The existing knowledge gap affected their ability to support projects efficiently and to handle troubleshooting tasks in a structured way.

F5 needed a training partner that understood both the technology and the local partner landscape, and who could build on existing experience rather than starting from scratch.

solutions

Red Education and F5 Networks worked together to design a three-day Channel Enablement program for Hong Kong partners, delivered in a classroom setting at the F5 premises, in line with local preferences for in-person, hands-on learning.

Senior Instructor Travis Loke led the engagement. Before the course, the F5 SE Lead met with Travis to discuss the background of the attending engineers, the types of APM projects they were handling and where they needed the most support. As a result, additional troubleshooting content was added to the agenda so that the sessions directly reflected the challenges partners were seeing in the field.

The program focused on configuring BIG-IP Access Policy Manager and understanding how APM fits within broader BIG-IP environments. Red Education’s team worked with F5 to align the lab scenarios to partner use cases, so that exercises mirrored the situations engineers encounter when supporting production projects.

Outcomes

Feedback from the training showed that attendees felt more confident supporting the APM projects they were working on. The lab environment helped them practice configuration tasks and troubleshooting in a controlled setting, which reinforced their learning and addressed previous gaps in experience.

For F5, this meant partner teams were better equipped to support customers using BIG-IP APM in Hong Kong, with skills that were more closely aligned to current project demands and ongoing engagements.
