Accelerated Upskilling for Prisma Access SSE Delivery

Winning new security work is one thing. Being ready to deliver it is another. As this Australian IT professional services firm accelerated its push into SASE offerings, demand for Prisma Access Secure Service Edge gathered pace. With multiple opportunities approaching decision stage and a delivery team new to the platform, the business faced a narrow window to build capability, protect momentum, and turn pipeline into successful outcomes.

Challenges

Our customer is an Australian IT professional services firm delivering enterprise network, infrastructure, and security solutions across multi-site environments, supporting complex wired and wireless estates throughout Australia and New Zealand.

The organisation was executing a clear business strategy to take Secure Access Service Edge (SASE) solutions to market. Its sales team had already been trained to position Prisma Access Secure Service Edge (SSE) and was actively progressing multiple opportunities. As these opportunities advanced toward closure, a critical gap emerged on the delivery side.

The project engineering team did not yet have the practical skills required to deploy and manage Prisma Access SSE. This created delivery risk at precisely the moment when the business needed confidence that it could fulfil new contracts. Timing was a key pressure point. Several opportunities were expected to close within a short window, leaving little room for gradual skills development.

Compounding the challenge, the organisation was new to Palo Alto Networks technologies. While it had a strong background in network and infrastructure services, its existing capability did not yet extend to delivering cloud-delivered security platforms at scale. The business also recognised a broader need to evolve its technology stack and expand its delivery capability to support a more diverse set of security solutions.

Without rapid and targeted upskilling, the organisation faced the prospect of winning work that it was not yet equipped to deliver, placing both client relationships and commercial outcomes at risk.

solutions

Red Education delivered targeted training to upskill the client’s engineers on Palo Alto Networks Prisma Access Secure Service Edge (SSE). The training focused on building a practical understanding of Security Service Edge fundamentals, including Zero Trust Network Access, secure web gateway functionality, and cloud access security broker capabilities. This enabled engineers who were new to Palo Alto Networks technology to quickly develop the skills required to support real-world deployment and operational scenarios.

The delivery approach prioritised clarity and practical understanding, recognising that the engineers were new to the Palo Alto Networks ecosystem. Complex concepts were broken down into structured, logical components to help participants quickly build confidence in how the solution works and how it is deployed in customer environments.

The training was delivered by an experienced instructor who actively engaged with participants, answered questions in depth, and related the content back to practical delivery scenarios. This approach helped accelerate learning and supported the transition from theory to applied capability within a compressed timeframe.

Outcomes

Following the training, the organisation was positioned to confidently support its growing pipeline of Prisma Access SSE opportunities. With five active opportunities underway, the engineering team now has the skills required to deploy and manage the solution once contracts are secured.

This readiness removed a key delivery risk and enabled the business to align its technical capability with its sales momentum. The organisation can now take SASE solutions to market with greater confidence, knowing it has in-house expertise to support implementation and ongoing management.

Participant feedback highlighted the effectiveness of the instructor, particularly in simplifying a complex platform and presenting it in a practical, understandable way. While there were some challenges with the availability of vendor-hosted labs during the course, these did not detract from the overall learning outcomes.

As a result, the organisation is better equipped to grow its security services portfolio, support customer adoption of Prisma Access SSE, and deliver on new opportunities as they convert to projects.
